Hound scarf 2 on model

Yay, the second ‘Hound: Easy Being Green’ scarf is now complete, as shown here by Michele. (Thanks for modeling!) I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s not just photographers on TV and in the movies – it’s really nearly impossible to direct a photo shoot without sounding at least a little bit like a lunatic.

Case in point: the pictures shown here on the model were taken with me yelling something along the lines of, “Yes! Yes! That’s it! Interact with the tree! Engage with your environment! No, a quarter-turn this way and- hold it! Right there! Don’t move! That’s it! But interact with the tree more! You’re a Disney Princess! Say, ‘Hello, Friend Tree!’ You and the tree are having a moment.”

Yes, I know it makes me sound certifiable. But otherwise, I get these stiff, boring, straight-on poses that make it look like I’ve draped my scarf around the shoulders of someone standing in front of a firing squad. Not cute.

‘Hound: Easy Being Green 2.0’ is pieced together in faux crazy patch, as per usual, using hundreds of tiny pieces of fabric that read in a solid color (green, in this case) from a distance, and reveal the actual complexity of the construction only upon closer examination. At one end, his five-pointed star is foundation pieced in white and finished with black satin stitch around the edge. The scarf is backed in snuggly (Hound would definitely approve) forest green panné crushed velvet and quilted in freeform geometric lines and shapes using green variegated thread, with the star left unquilted for emphasis. The whole scarf is 64 ¼ inches long by a generous 8 ¼ inches wide.
